Through the wisdom of my clients, I quickly learned that survival skills are an asset.
But I didn’t know that surviving could also be a mindset. One that gets locked into an urgent state of seeking safety and stability.
I also learned that life skills are a luxury.
A lesson conventional wisdom has yet to learn.
Especially when it trusts that life skills are skills everyone should just magically have and use.
But life skills are patient. They need time to cultivate, integrate, and apply. Easy to do when survival isn’t breathing down your back.
