Although you wouldn’t know it based on how many people in my office try to do exactly this.

Trying to reason is not the problem.

It’s when the trying becomes wish-fulfillment.
Wishing that your unreasonable mother, father, spouse, boss, bae, or even friend would get a reasonable clue.
And that maybe … just maybe … if you reason hard enough, they’d get the clue they need.

Newsflash: They don’t.

But this isn’t even the problem.

Based on my clients’ experiences,
it only becomes a problem when they keep expecting something in return that only lets them down.
